Treatments for Aging Skin
Aging skin may be inevitable by nature, but at our Orlando dermatology practice, it is also preventable and reversible. Our expert cosmetic dermatology specialists can develop a skincare plan to help you restore and maintain a more youthful, vibrant look at any age.
Overview
The skin changes with age, but other factors play a major role as well. Sunlight, cigarette smoking, genetics, stress and other lifestyle factors all effect the way your skin ages over time.
Signs and Symptoms
Aging skin eventually begins to thin and loses production of collagen, the fatty layers underneath the skin's surface that make it less smooth and less plump. Healing takes longer and bruises are more common due to thinning of the skin. Some examples of aging skin are loss of moisture, sagging skin, wrinkles, discoloration and age spots.
Another mark of aging skin is benign lesions including cherry hemangiomas (little red spots), telangectasias (red veins), seborrheic keratoses (brown wart-like growths), sebaceous hyperplasias (yellow, shiny bumps) and skin tags (acrochordans) - all of which can be removed by our cosmetic dermatologists.
Aging Skin Diagnosis and Treatment
Our Orlando dermatology practice offers a number of invasive and non-invasive cosmetic dermatology services with options to visibly minimize skin aging and to promote a more youthful and radiant appearance. Recommended treatments depend upon your specific needs and identification of skin lesions during your visit.
Skin tags can be removed by snipping with scissors and seborrheic keratoses can be frozen with liquid nitrogen. Both of these procedures can be performed in our offices.
Telangectasias, sebaceous hyperplasias and cherry hemangiomas can be treated with electrocautery.
Our practice offers you multiple alternatives to visibly reduce lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, sunspots, loss of skin firmness (including in the stubborn under-chin area), vascular lesions and rosacea. Botox®, dermal filler injections such as Juvederm®, fractional skin resurfacing, skin tightening and intense pulsed light laser treatments can be introduced into your personalized treatment plan. Chemical peels such as TCA peels also can be administered by our paramedical esthetician.
Our Cosmetic Dermatology Services are performed in a number of our 15 Orlando-area locations. Insurance companies regard these treatments as non-covered cosmetic procedures. However, our practice offers many different payment options. For best results repeated treatments are required and preferable prices are available for multiple treatments.
Follow up and Outcomes
The Skin Cancer Foundation published that up to 90 percent of the visible changes commonly attributed to aging are caused by the sun as ultraviolet radiation from the sun damages the skin on a cellular level. In conjunction with the recommended treatment options available at our Orlando dermatology practice, we wish to stress that anti-aging prevention starts with daily sun protection using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF 15 or higher, containing zinc or titanium oxide.
We recommend using STEPPIE MD® Antioxidant Sunscreen Spray SPF 50, which provides broad-spectrum protection from both UVA and UVB rays with no chemical sun fillers. It contains the FDA approved physical blocker zinc oxide to reflect light away from the skin. Plus, this breakthrough formula is infused with Astaxanthin, a powerful antioxidant, and certified organic botanicals to protect your skin from the daily inflammation and free radicals caused by UV radiation.

Today I was seen by the Nurse Practitioner Ashleigh who was very gentle, caring and full of knowledge. The office staff was great! The appointment was on time. The office is super clean and comfortable!
